Apache Trail Map
Originally, and more historically correct, the 120 mile Apache Trail circle route was built as a wagon route for the construction of Roosevelt Dam from 1902-1909 and was originally called the "Mesa to Roosevelt Road." Over the past 100 years the road was expanded on the east half of Apache Trail and was originally called the "Superior Highway" but is known today as "Old West Highway/Apache Trail Bypass." This expansion in the mid 1920's completed the circle route that passes through the old mining towns of Superior, Miami, Claypool and Globe. The west half of Apache Trail passes through old stage stops such as Roosevelt, Fish Creek Station, Tortilla Flat Station, Mormon Flat Station, Pinto Creek and Goldfield. These are just a few of the many historic landmarks along America's oldest highway!
